Johnny Daukes - Film, Music, TV and Radio

Johnny Daukes

Johnny’s new album, ‘A False Parade’ is to be release on November 7th 2011. It has been written and recorded over the last two years in gaps between screenwriting and film-making. With wider, political themes alongside excoriating soul-searching and a mix courtesy of Tom Waits’s engineer of choice Karl Derfler, the album is a powerful statement and a markedly different proposition than ‘Promise’.

Taking the advice of WORD Magazine ‘perhaps Johnny might consider getting some lads in to help him, as with all this solo effort he might put his back out’, Johnny enlisted the talents of some friends and is joined by Kevin Armstrong on guitar, Quillon Larratt on drums, Rob Lucas on bass, Andrew Spooner on keyboards and Christine Lockhart, Vashti Gleave and Laura Matthews on backing vocals.

Johnny’s debut solo album ‘Promise’ was released in January 2008 and many of the songs reflect on the break-up of an eighteen-year relationship. Despite being recorded and mixed by Johnny in a bedroom, the album received positive reviews throughout the music press and was Album of the Week with The Sunday Times and Rough Trade.
